International Relations
This experience familiarized me with the driving factors in international relationships. Specifically, what incentivizes nations to work together. In the Africom theater, The U.S. benefits from its partnership with Djibouti which allows us to deploy forces to troubled regions such as Yemen/Somalia. Djoubiti benefits from a U.S. presence that allows the African state a buffer of defense against terrorist groups in the region.

Environmental Policy
I served in Djibouti and Somalia during one of the worst droughts in the regions history. Along with participating in humanitarian efforts, I was able to witness the social, economic, and health impact of drought in the global south. This experience tremendously influenced my research in POLS 401, Global Environmental Policy.

State Council of Higher Education
April 2021-October 2021
Serving as the Old Dominion University student representation to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia played an integral role in my professional development. I gained hands on policy experience and learned to collaborate professionally by working representatives across the state. Attached here is video from a national symposium on social mobility which I spoke at in 2021 while fulfilling my duties in the role.
