Leadership
This section highlights my experience as a team leader in the U.S. Army during my time at Old Dominion University. It consist of both operational experience and classroom curriculum.

Advancement team leader requires successful completion of both Distributed Leaders Course(DLC) one and two. DLC was designed by the U.S. Army to provide professional military education that develops enlisted leaders into fit, disciplined, well- educated professional capable of meeting the challenges of an increasingly complex world.

DLC One
This course prepares the specialist to improve basic communication skills to message ideas and thoughts clearly; recognize the need for strong character and values; demonstrate tactical and technical competence in leading teams.

DLC Two
This course prepares the sergeant to react to cultural dynamics in the Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, and Multinational (JIIM) environment; develop self and subordinates to use sound and ethical judgement; be an agile and a multi-skilled leader in the operating environment when information is ambiguous and uncertain; and be accountable with moral and ethical character when managing programs.

Experience
​
From April 2022-August 2022, I had my first operational experience while serving in the Horn of Africa as apart of Operation Enduring Freedom. During my tenure as team leader, I was responsible for wellbeing and success of three junior enlsited members. This role required me to draw upon my DLC knowledge as well as on the spot mentorship to ensure squad success.

Roles and Responsibilities

Ensured the completion of directives from higher ups.

Compiled personnel and inventory reports for senior leadership.

Served as the first point of contact for issues relating to soldiers.

Created schedules designed to ensure quality training and quality personal time.

Oversaw and participated in squad level training excercises.
